MY WORK
Painting has always been about feeling first.
I’ve always been drawn to color and the way it can completely change the energy of a room. I don’t begin a painting with every detail planned. I usually begin with a feeling, a color combination, or simply the urge to put something down on canvas and see where it takes me.
My process is intuitive and layered. I paint, cover things up, scrape back, add more, and let unexpected marks become part of the work. I love that tension between softness and energy—quiet areas against saturated color, loose gestures against more deliberate ones. The paintings evolve as I work, and I rarely know exactly where they will end when I begin.
I’m equally inspired by interiors, fashion, textiles, nature, photography, and the colors I notice in everyday life. I spent nearly two decades living and designing in New York City, and my career has taken me around the world—from London and Amsterdam to Belgium, Germany, China and beyond. Those years of travel, design, fashion, architecture, and discovering new places have inevitably shaped the way I see color, scale, texture, and proportion. But when I paint, I try to leave the rules behind.
After stepping away from painting for a while, I found myself wanting to make things again—not because I needed to, but because I missed it. Coming back has given me a different kind of freedom. I’m less interested in making what I think I should make and much more interested in following what excites me.
At the end of the day, I want my paintings to bring something into a space that wasn’t there before—a little energy, beauty, curiosity, or emotion. Something you keep noticing.
